Pipeline pigging is the process of performing various cleaning, clearing, maintenance, inspection, dimensioning, process, and pipeline testing activities on new and existing pipelines utilising tools or implements known as “pigs.” Pigging is often carried out on active pipelines without halting the product’s flow. The “pigs” can be made of a variety of materials and designs, including cast polyurethane, rubber, and polyurethane open cell foam.
POLY-TECH uses the pigging methods as per the cleaning guidelines for projects. It is performed using specialty chemicals with no harm to the system or environment.
Multiple varieties of pigs shall be used to meet “White Target Test” cleanliness standards, and propelling media shall be designed as per process fluid characteristics. The slug-pigging method will be used to clean long lines by launching a series of pigs with the smallest batch of chemicals required.
